IS 6390 : Part 2 : 1992 Domestic Electrical Clothes shing Machines - Specification - Part 2 : Requirements for Tumbler Dryers

1 Scope

This clause of IS 302 : 1979, is applicable except as follows:

1.1 Replacement

This standard applies to electric tumbler dryers.

Tumbler dryers incorporated in electric washing machines arewithin the scope of this standard.

Tumbler dryers not intended for normal household use, but whichnevertheless may be a source of danger to the public, such astumbler dryers for communal use in blocks of flats or inlaundrettes, are also within the scope of this standard.

This standard does not take into account the special hazardswhich exist in places where are young children or aged or infirmpersons without supervision; in such cases, additional requirementsmay be necessary.

This standard does not apply to:

a) Tumbler dryers designed exclusively for industrial orcommercial purposes; and

b) Tumbler dryers intended to be used in locations where specialconditions prevail, such as the presence of a corrosive orexplosive atmosphere (dust, vapour or gas).

For tumbler dryers intended to be used in vehicles or on boardships or air-craft, additional requirements may be necessary.
