This Indian Standard (Part 2/Sec 1) (Fourth Revision) which is identical to CISPR 14-1 : 2020 'Electromagnetic compatibility - Requirements for household appliances, electric tools and similar apparatus - Part 1: Emission' issued by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of the Electromagnetic Compatibility Sectional Committee and approval of the Electronics and Information Technology Division Council.

This standard was originally published in 1977 and was largely based on CISPR 14. It was subsequently revised in 1999 and was identical to CISPR 14 : 1993. The second revision of this standard was published in 2012 and was identical to CISPR 14-1 : 2009. The third revision of this standard was done in 2019 and was identical to CISPR14-1 : 2015. This fourth revision has been undertaken to align it with the latest version of IEC CISPR 14-1 : 2020.

The text of the IEC standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain terminologies and conventions are, however, not identical to those used in the Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following:

a) Wherever the words 'International Standard' appear referring to this standard, they should be read as 'Indian Standard'.

b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker, while in Indian Standards, the current practice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker.
