NATIONAL FOREWORD
This Indian Standard (Part 1) which is identical with ISO 374-1 : 2016 ‘Protective gloves against dangerous chemicals and micro-organisms - Part 1: Terminology and performance requirements for chemical risks’ issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on recommendation of the Occupational Safety and Health Sectional Committee and approval of the Chemical Division Council.
This standard was originally published in 1973. The first revision of this standard has been carried out to harmonize the standard with ISO and is identical with ISO 374-1 : 2016.
The major changes in this revision are as follows:
a) Scope is limited to chemical risks as other parts of this standard will cover for other hazards; and
b) Material for gloves kept open provided it meets performance requirements.
