Revised Standard from Last Update.

NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard which is identical with ISO 12048 : 1994 ‘Packaging - Complete, filled transport packages — Compression and stacking tests using a compression tester’ issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards after the draft finalized by the Transport Packages, Packaging Codes, Freight Containers and Pallets Sectional Committee had been approved by the Transport Engineering Division Council.

This Indian Standard was first published in 1975. It had been revised to bring it in line with the revised IS0 2874 : 1985. The second revision of this standard has been undertaken to align it with ISO 12048 : 1994.

This Indian Standard is published in several parts. The other parts in this series are as follows:

Part 1 Performance tests for complete, filled transport packages: Part 1 Stacking tests using static load (second revision)

Part 2 Performance tests for complete, filled transport packages: Part 2 Vibration test at fixed low frequency (second revision)

Part 3 Performance tests for complete, filled transport packages: Part 3 Horizontal impact tests (horizontal or inclined test, pendulum test (second revision)

Part 4 Performance tests for complete, filled transport packages: Part 4 Vertical impact drop test (first revision)

Part 5 Performance tests for complete, filled transport packages: Part 5 Rolling test (first revision)

Part 7 Performance tests for complete, filled transport packages: Part 7 Low pressure test (second revision)

Part 8 Performance tests for complete, filled transport packages: Part 8 Water spray test (second revision)

Part 10 Performance tests for complete, filled transport packages: Part 10 Water immersion test

Part 11 Performance test for complete, filled transport packages: Part 11 Toppling test

Part 12 Performance tests for complete, filled transport packages: Part 12 Vibration tests using a sinusoidal variable frequency (second revision)

Part 6 and Part 9 have been amalgamated in this part of IS 7028.

The text of ISO Standard has been proposed to be approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain conventions and terminologies are, however, not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following:

a) Wherever the words ‘International Standard’ appear referring to this standard, they should be read as ‘Indian Standard’.

b) Comma ( , ) has been used as a decimal marker while in Indian Standards, the current practice is to use a point ( . ) as the decimal marker.
