This Indian Standard (Second Revision) which is identical withISO 4171 : 1993 `Air cargo equipment - Interline pallets issued bythe International Organization for Standardization (ISO) wasadopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendations ofthe Air Cargo Handling Sectional Committee (HMD 13) and approval ofthe Heavy Mechanical Engineering Division Council.

This Indian Standard `Air Cargo Pallets IS 7074 (Part 1)General requirements was first published in 1973 and was revised in1992, and IS 7074 (Part 2) `Testing was published in 1978. Inorder to align these Indian Standards with ISO 4171 : 1993, this(second revision) has been taken up. After publication of thisstandard IS 7074 (Part 2) stands withdrawn. Now it is beingpublished as IS 7074.

The text of ISO standard has been approved for publication asIndian Standard without deviations. Certain terminology andconventions are, however, not identical to those used in IndianStandards. Attention is particularly drawn to This:

a) Wherever the words `International Standard appear referringto this standard, they should be read as `Indian Standard.

b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker while in IndianStandards, the current practice is to use a point (.) as a decimalmarker.

In the adopted standard, reference appears to certainInternational Standards for which Indian Standards also exist. Thecorresponding Indian Standards which are to be substituted in theirplace are listed below along with their degree of equivalence forthe editions indicated:
