1 Scope
This standard lays down the procedure for applying bitumenmastic for damp-proofing to:
a) portion of buildings below ground in order to exclude visiblepenetration of water and provide a vapour seal against hydrostaticpressure, and
b) walls and floors above ground level in order to preventrising of water through capillary action.
1.2 The type of structure to which this type of treatment willbe effective may be constructed of reinforced concrete, prestressedconcrete, in special cases, plain concrete, dense concrete,blockwork, plastered brick or stone masonry or structural steel inconjunction with other materials.
