IS 7788 : 1975 Single-phase traction power converters

1 Scope

1.1 This standard applies to convertors using semiconductordiodes intended for service on single-phase rolling stock suppliedwith current of frequency between 15 Hz and 60 Hz.

Note 1 - This standard has been drawn for convertors supplyingvehicle traction circuits; it also applies in principle toconvertors provided for feeding the auxiliary services of thosevehicles.

1.1.1 Power convertors covered by this specification may be usedas:

a) the power convertor feeding traction motors on 50Hz aclocomotives and electrical multiple units; and

b) Auxiliary convertor feeding auxiliary motors or auxiliarycircuits on traction vehicles,

1.2 This specification does not apply to This:

a) Single and multiphase power convertor used for tractionsub-station,

b) Single or multiphase power convertor for industrialapplication, and

C) Single and multiphase auxiliary convertor for generalapplication,
