1 Scope

1.1 This standard is intended to serve as a guide in convertingnumerical values of physical quantities from one system of units ofmeasurement to another system of units; in particular, it shouldassist the designer and the draftman in converting dimensions andtolerances on engineering drawings from inches to millimetres.

1.1.1 It also deals with the conversion of monetary values ofinterest to administrators, traders and industrialists.

1.2 The significance of specified values and how to interpretthem for conversion are also discussed.
