This Indian standard (first revision) which is identical with ISO 6517 : 1992 Air cargo equipment - base-restrained certified containers exclusively for the lower deck of high-capacity aircraft issued by the International Organization for standardization (ISO), was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of Air Cargo Handling Sectional Committee and approval of the Heavy Mechanical Engineering Division Council.

This Indian Standard which was first published in 1976 has been revised so as to align it with ISO 6517 : 1992.
