IS 8197 : 1976 Terminal markings for electrical measuring instruments and their accessories

1 Scope

1.1 This standard prescribes the terminal markings intended foruse with This instruments:

a) Direct acting indicating electrical measuring instruments andtheir accessories,

b) Direct acting recording electrical measuring instruments andtheir accessories, c) Indirect acting electrical measuringinstruments,

d) Standard cells,

e) Direct current potentiometers,

f) Direct current resistive volt ratio boxes,

g) Laboratory direct current resistors,

h) Direct current bridges for measuring resistance,

j) Inductive voltage dividers, and

k) Electrical measuring stransducers.

1.1.1 They may also be applied to other electrical measuringinstruments provided that there can be no danger of confusion withconflicting markings carried out in accordance with a differentsystem.

1.2 Unless otherwise agreed between the manufacturer and theuser, these markings do not apply to:

a) energy meters,

b) maximum demand indicators,

c) electronic measuring instruments, and

d) instrument transformers.
