This Indian Standard (Part 1) (First Revision) which is identical with ISO 3715-1 : 2002 ?Ships andmarine technology - Propulsion plants for ships - Part 1 : Vocabulary for geometry of propeller?issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of IndianStandards on the recommendation of the Shipbuilding Sectional Committee and approval of the TransportEngineering Division Council.

This standard was first brought out in 1976. The present revision has been undertaken to harmonizewith current international practices. Now this standard has being brought out in two parts as given underand covers vocabulary of related terms more exhaustively. Other part of this standard is as givenbelow:

Part 2 Vocabulary for controllable-pitch propeller plants (first revision)

The text of ISO Standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standardwithout deviations. Certain conventions are, however, not identical to those used in Indian Standards.Attention is particularly drawn to the following:

a) Wherever the words ?International Standard? appear referring to this standard, they shouldbe read as ?Indian Standard?.

b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker while in Indian Standards, the current practiceis to use a point (.) as the decimal marker.

In this adopted standard, reference appears to the following International Standard for which IndianStandard also exists. The corresponding Indian Standard, which is to be substituted in its place is givenbelow along with its degree of equivalence for the edition indicated:
