IS 8269 : 1976 Methods for switching impulse tests on high voltage insulators

1 Scope

1.1 This standard applies to switching impulse tests, whenspecified, on insulators intended for use on ac installations withhighest voltage of 300 kV and above.

Note 1 - This standard is not intended to be applied to pollutedinsulators. A switching impulse test on polluted insulators isconsidered to be premature at the present state of the art.

Note 2 - This standard does not give numerical values forinsulator characteristics, neither does it deal with the choice ofinsulators for specific operating conditions.
