NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard which is identical with IEC 81346-1 : 2022 ‘Industrial systems, installations and equipment and industrial products - Structuring principles and reference designations - Part 1: Basic rules’ issued by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of the BasicElectrotechnical Standards and Power Quality Sectional Committee and approval of the Electrotechnical Division Council.

This standard was first published in 1976. This revision has been undertaken to take into consideration the developments that have taken place subsequently and also to align with the latest version of IEC 81346-1 : 2022.
