Revised Standard from Last Update.

NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard (Part 1) (Third Revision) which is identical with ISO 2061 : 2015 ‘Textiles - Determination of twist in yarns - Part 1: Direct counting method’ issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on recommendation of the Physical Methods of Test Sectional Committee and approval of the Textiles Division Council. This standard was first published in 1964 which prescribed only direct count method to determine the twist in the yarn and was first revised in 1985 in which untwist-retwist method was also included.

This standard was again revised in 2011 and was split into two parts for direct counting method (Part 1) and untwist-retwist method (Part 2) to align them with the latest ISO standards on the subject, that are, ISO 2061 : 1995 and IS 17202 : 2002 respectively. This standard has been again revised to align it with the latest version of ISO 2061 : 2015.

This Indian Standard is published in two parts. The other part in the series is:

Part 2 Untwist/retwist method for single spun yarn

The text of ISO Standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain terminologies and conventions are, however, not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following:

a) Wherever the words ‘International Standard’ appears referring to this standard, they should be read as ‘Indian Standard’.

b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker, while in Indian Standards, the current practice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker.
