IS 8554 : 2024/ISO 2376 : 2019 Anodizing of Aluminium and Its Alloys - Determination of Breakdown Voltage and Withstand Voltage
NATIONAL FOREWORD
This Indian Standard (First Revision) is identical to ISO 2376 : 2019 'Anodizing of aluminium and its alloys - Determination of breakdown voltage and withstand voltage' issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of Corrosion Protection and Finishes Sectional Committee and approval of the Metallurgical Engineering Division Council.
This standard was first published in 1977. This revision has been undertaken to align with the latest version ISO 2376 : 2019 under dual numbering system to harmonize it with the latest developments that have taken place at international level.
Former title of the Indian Standard IS 8554 was 'Method of checking insulation of anodized coating by measurement of break down potential' which is changed to 'Anodizing of aluminium and its alloys - Determination of breakdown voltage and withstand voltage' as per the title of ISO 2376.
The text of ISO standard has been approved as suitable for publication as in Indian Standard without deviations. Certain terminologies and conventions are, however, not identical with those used in Indian Standard. Attention is especially drawn to the following:
a) Wherever the words 'International Standard' appear referring to this standard, it should be read as 'Indian Standard'; and
b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker while in Indian Standards the current practice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker.
