IS 8764 : 1998 Method of determination of point load strength index of rocks

1 Scope

1.1 This standard lays down the procedure for determination ofdiametral and axial point load strength index of rock cores, cutblocks or irregular lumps, which may be tested without anytreatment.

1.2 The testing may be carried out either in the laboratory orin field at the drilling site.

1.3 These tests are not reliable if point load strength index(Is or IL) is less than 1 MPa.
