( Superseding IS 8832 : 2003/ISO 1114 : 1977 and IS 8833 : 2003/ISO 2291 : 1980 )
Reaffirmed 2023
NATIONAL FOREWORD
This Indian Standard (Third Revision) which is identical with ISO 2451 : 2017 ‘Cocoa beans — Specification and quality requirements’ issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on recommendation of the Stimulant Foods Sectional Committee and approval of the Food and Agriculture Divisional Council.
This standard was originally published in 1973 and subsequently revised in 2003 and 2018 to align with the corresponding versions of ISO 2451. The third revision of this standard has been undertaken to align it with the latest version of ISO 2451 : 2017, which cancels and replaces ISO 2451 : 2014, ISO 1114 : 1977 and ISO 2291 : 1980 which have been technically revised and thus stand withdrawn. Accordingly, with the publication of this standard IS 8832 : 2003/ISO 1114 : 1977 Cocoa beans — Cut test and IS 8833 : 2003/ISO 2291 : 1980 Cocoa beans — Determination of moisture content (routine method) shall stand withdrawn.
The text of ISO Standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain terminologies and conventions are, however, not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following:
a) Wherever the words ‘International Standard’ appear referring to this standard, they should be read as ‘Indian Standard’.
b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker, while in Indian Standards, the current practice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker.
