Revised Standard from Last Update.

NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard (Third Revision) which is identical with ISO 675 : 2014 ‘Woven fabrics - Determination of dimensional change on commercial laundering near the boiling point’ issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on recommendation of the Chemical Methods of Test Sectional Committee and approval of the Textile Division Council.

This standard was first published in 1949 and subsequently revised in 1963, 1982. The third revision of this standard has been undertaken to align it with the latest version of ISO 675 : 2014.

Dimensional change of all types of woven fabrics after commercial laundering near the boiling point is very important performance requirement from the view point of user or consumer. It is, therefore, considered necessary that Indian Standard on this subject is completely harmonized with International Standard (ISO).

This standard finds application in determination of dimensional change on commercial laundering of textile materials near the boiling point.

The text of ISO standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain terminologies and conventions are, however, not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following:

a) Wherever the words ‘International Standard’ appear referring to this standard, they should be read as ‘Indian Standard’.

b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker, while in Indian Standards, the current practice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker.
