NATIONAL FOREWORD
This Indian Standard (Part 7/Sec 3) (First Revision) which is identical with IEC 60068-2-31 : 2008 ‘Environmental testing — Part 2-31: Tests — Test Ec: Rough handling shocks, primarily for equipment-type specimens’ issued by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on recommendation of the Environmental Conditions, Testing Procedures for Electronic Products Sectional Committee and approval of the Electronics and Information Technology Divisional Council.
This standard was originally published in 1979 which was based on IEC 60068-2-27 : 1972, IEC 60068-2-29 : 1968, IEC 60068-2-31 : 1969 and IEC 60068-2-32 : 1975. IEC 60068-2-27 : 1972 and IEC 60068-2-29 : 1968 have been withdrawn and replaced with IEC 60068-2-27 : 2008. IEC 60068-2-27 : 2008 has been adopted and published as IS 9000 (Part 7/Sec 1) : 2018. The text of IEC Standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain terminologies and conventions are, however, not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following:
a) Wherever the words ‘International Standard’ appear referring to this standard, they should be read as ‘Indian Standard’.
b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker, while in Indian Standards, the current practice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker.
