IS 9119 : 1979 Method for flow estimation by jet characteristics (approximate method)

1 Scope

1.1 This standard lays down the procedures for estimation offlow in closed circular horizontal conduits flowing full and freelydischarging into atmosphere as a free jet. The characteristic ofthis free jet are expressed in terms of the vertical drop of thejet over a certain horizontal distance from the free end of thepipe.

1.2 This method should not be used where there is a heavytendency of jet to disintegrate and when the jet fluctuatesviolently.
