NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard (Part 4) (First Revision) which is identical with ISO 7404-4 : 2017 ‘Methods for the petrographic analysis of coals - Part 4: Method of determining microlithotype, carbominerite and minerite composition’ issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on recommendation of the Solid Mineral Fuels and Solid Biofuels Sectional Committee and approval of the Petroleum, Coal and Related Products Division Council.

This standard was first published in 2001 which was identical with ISO 7404-4 : 1988 ‘Methods for the petrographic analysis of bituminous coal and anthracite - Part 4: Method of determining microlithotype, carbomineriate and minerite composition’. The first revision of this standard has been undertaken to align it with the latest version of ISO 7404-4 : 2017.
