IS 9221 : 1979 Method for the determination of modulus of elasticity and Poisson's ratio of rock materials in uniaxial compression

1 Scope

1.1 This standard covers the method for determination of Young'smodulus of elasticity and Poisson's ratio of cylindrical rockspecimens in compression.

1.2 This standard does not cover (a) the procedure necessary toobtain stress strain curve beyond the ultimate strength, and (b)the method for determining rock moduli in tension.
