NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard (Part 2) (Second Revision) which is identical to ISO 1652 : 2011 ‘Rubber latex - Determination of apparent viscosity by the Brookfield test method’ issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on recommendation(s) of the Methods of Test for Rubber and Rubber Products Sectional Committee and approval of the Petroleum, Coal and Related Products Division Council.

This standard was first published as IS 9316 (Part 2) : 1979 ‘Methods of test for rubber latex: Part 2 Determination of viscosity’ and subsequently revised in 1988. For first revision of this standard, assistance had been derived from ISO 1652 : 1985 ‘Rubber latex - Determination of viscosity’.

In this revision, the Committee decided to align it with latest published ISO 1652 : 2011 ‘Rubber latex - Determination of apparent viscosity by the Brookfield test method’ under dual numbering system.

The text of ISO standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain conventions are, however, not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following:

a) Wherever the words ‘International Standard’ appear referring to this standard, they should be read as 'Indian Standard' ; and

b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker while in Indian Standards, the current practice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker.
