Revised Standard from Last Update.

NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard (First Revision) which is identical with ISO 5902 : 2013 ‘Alpine skis - Determination of elastic properties’ issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on recommendation of the Mountaineering and Adventure Sports Sectional Committee and approval of the Production and General Engineering Division Council.

This standard was originally published in 1979 based on ISO/DIS 5902 : 1978 ‘Alpine skis - Determination of elastic properties — Laboratory methods’. The first revision of this standard has been undertaken to align it with the latest version of ISO 5902 : 2013.

The major changes in this revision are as follows:

a) normative references (2) are updated;

b) Sampling and conditioning requirement for test ski has been added;

c) Tolerances have been specified for spring constant and torsional spring constant; and

d) Test report format has been explained.
