NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard (Part 1) (First Revision) which is identical with IEC 60282-1 : 2009 ‘High-voltage fuses — Part 1: Current-limiting fuses’ issued by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) incorporating Amendment No. 1 published in 2014 was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of the Fuses Sectional Committee and approval of the Electrotechnical Division Council.

This standard was originally published as IS 9385 (Part 1) : 1979 ‘Specification for high voltage fuses : Part 1 Current limiting fuses’ based on IEC Pub 282-1(1974) . The committee has now decided to adopt this standard under dual numbering system in order to align it with the latest version of IEC 60282-1 : 2009 to make pace with the latest international practices.

The text of IEC Standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain conventions are, however, not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following:

a) Wherever the words ‘International Standard’ appear referring to this standard, they should be read as ‘Indian Standard’.

b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker while in Indian Standards, the current practice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker.
