IS 9482 : 1996 Single Sideband Power Line Carrier Terminals - Specification

1 Scope

1.1 This standard applies to Single Sideband (SSB) Power LineCarner (PLC) Termimls used to transmit information over HighVoltage (HV) Lines, and establishes recommended values forcharacteristic input and output quantities of single sideband PLCterminals (see Fig. 1) and definitions essential for anunderstanding of these recommendations.

1.2 This standard covers two versions of the PLC equipmentintended for two different applications as given below:

a) Standard Termmal - Equipment with a voice frequency sideinterface which offers transmission of a frequency band of 300 Hzto 3400 Hz on a four-wire basis plus sigmlling facilities. Thisequipment is capable via analog interafce, of being connected tonetworks that may consist of transmission equipment of differenttypes and from different manufacturers. There may be facilities foradditional point to point connection (for example, a teleprotectionconnection) which may fall outside the frequency band of 300 Hz to3400 Hz (see Fig. 2).

b) Spech-Plus Terminal - Equipment where specific interfaces forsignals like speech, data and teleprotection are present at thevoice frequency side (see Fig. 3).

The two versions will have parts in common and the requirementsof these common parts are dealt with under 6.2 and 6.3.1.
