1. Scope

1.1 This recommended practice describes the techniques used in the production of S. G. iron and covers t0pics, such as composition of base iron, charge materials, melting units, treatment alloys to be used, desulphurization techniques, magnesium treatment for spheroidization and inoculation techniques, gating practice and heat treatment of castings.
