This Indian Standard (Part 2) (First Revision) which is identical with ISO9268 : 1988 `Implants for surgery - Metal bone screws with conical under-surfaceof head - Dimensions', issued by the International Organization forStandardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on therecommendations of Orthopedic Instruments and Accessories Sectional Committeeand approval of Medical Equipment and Hospital Planning Division Council.

This Standard was first published in four parts and was based on thecorresponding parts of ISO 5835. Part 3 and Part 4 of ISO 5835 have since beenrevised, merged and published as ISO 9268 : 1988. Part 1 and Part 2 of ISO 5835have also been revised and superseded by ISO 5835 : 1991 `Implants for surgery -Metal bone screws with hexagonal drive connection, spherical under-surface ofhead, asymmetrical thread - Dimensions'. It has been therefore, decided torevise the earlier Part 3 and Part 4 of this standard in line with the latestISO 9268 : 1988 by adopting it as a dual number standard to be published as Part2 of this standard. Part 1 and Part 2 of this standard have also been revisedand merged in line with the ISO 5835 : 1991 and being published as Part 1 ofthis standard.

Consequent upon the above mergers, Part 3 and Part 4 of this Indian Standardstand withdrawn.
