This standard (Part 1) which is identical with IEC 60143-1 :1992 `Series capacitors for power systems - Part 1 : Generalperformance, testing and rating - Safety requirements - Guide forinstallation' issued by the International ElectrotechnicalCommission (IEC), was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards onthe recommendation of Power Capacitors Sectional Committee (ET 29)and approval of the Electrotechnical Division Council.
