NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard (Part 1) which is identical with IEC 60068-1 : 2013 ‘Environmental testing - Part 1: General and guidance’ issued by International Electro technical Commission (IEC) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on recommendation of the Environmental Testing Procedure Sectional Committee, and approval of the Electronics and Information Technology Division Council.

IS 9000 (Part 1) ‘Basic environmental testing procedures for electronic and electrical items: Part 1 General’ was originally published in 1977. The First revision of IS 9000 (Part 1) published in 1988 was based on IEC Pub 68-1:1982, issued by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). IS 9001 (Part 1) ‘Guidance for environmental testing: Part 1 General’ was published in 1984 and was based on IEC Pub 68-1 : 1982, issued by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). This superseding of IS 9000 (Part 1) and IS 9001 (Part 1) has been undertaken to align it with the latest version of IEC 60068-1 : 2013. On publication of this Indian Standard (Part 1), IS 9000 (Part 1) : 1988 and IS 9001 (Part 1) : 1984 stands withdrawn.
