NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard (Part 2/Sec 6) which is identical with IEC 60068-2-6 : 2007 ‘Environmental testing - Part 2-6: Tests - Test Fc: Vibration (sinusoidal)’ was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on recommendation of the Environmental Testing Procedures Sectional Committee and approval of the Electronics and Information Technology Division Council.

IS 9000 (Part 8) : 1981 ‘Basic environmental testing procedures for electronic and electrical items: Part 8 Vibration (sinusoidal) test’ and IS 9001 (Part 13) : 1981 ‘Guidance for environmental testing: Part 13 Vibration (sinusoidal) test’ were published in 1981 and were based on IEC Pub 68-2-6 : 1970. IS 9002 (Part 5) : 1979 ‘Specification for Environmental Tests for Electronic and Electrical Items Part 5 Equipment for Vibration (Sinusoidal) Test’ laid down guiding requirements for the design of vibration test system required for carrying out vibration (sinusoidal) test. IEC Pub 68-2-6 : 1970 has been withdrawn and replaced by IEC 60068-2-6 : 2007. The superseding of these Standards has been undertaken to align it with the latest version of IEC 60068-2-6 : 2007.
