NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard (Part 1) which is identical with IEC 60122-1 : 2002 ‘Quartz crystal units of assessed quality - Part 1: Generic specification’ issued by International Electro technical Commission (IEC) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on recommendation of the Magnetic Components, Ferrite Materials, Piezoelectric and Frequency Control Devices Sectional Committee, and approval of the Electronics and Information Technology Division Council.

IS 8271 series and ISQC 680000 : 1995 were based on IEC Publication 122-1 (Second edition) : 1976 ‘Quartz crystal units for frequency control and selection - Part 1: Standard values and tests conditions’ and IEC Publication 61178-1 : 1993 ‘Quartz crystal units - A specification in the IEC quality assessment system for electronic components (IECQ) - Part 1: Generic specification’ respectively. The mentioned IECs were later published as IEC 60122-1 : 2002 + AMD1 : 2017 CSV. The superseding of above mentioned Indian Standards series has been undertaken to align it with the latest version of IEC 60122-1 : 2002 and on publication of this standard, IS 8271 series and ISQC 680000 : 1995 stands withdrawn.
