NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard (Part 3) which is identical with IEC 60269-3 : 2013 ‘Low-voltage fuses - Part 3: Supplementary requirements for fusesfor use by unskilled persons (fuses mainly for household and similar applications) - Examples of standardized systems of fuses A to F’ issued by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on recommendation of the Fuses Sectional Committee and approval of the Electrotechnical Division Council.

This standard is to be used in conjunction with IS/IEC 60269-1 : 2006, ‘Low-voltage fuses: Part 1 General requirements’ and its Amendment 1 (2009). This standard supersedes IS 8187 : 1976 (D-type fuses).

The significant changes in this standard are as follows:

a) The corresponding clauses or sub clauses of Part 1 have been supplemented or modified. Where no change is necessary, the relevant clause or sub clause applies.

b) Tables and figures which are additional to those in Part 1 are numbered starting from 101.

c) Additional annexes are numbered as AA, BB, etc.

The text of IEC Standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain terminologies and conventions are, however, not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following:

a) Wherever the words ‘International Standard’ appear referring to this standard, they should be read as `Indian Standard’.

b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker, while in Indian Standards, the current practice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker.
