NATIONAL FOREWORD
This Indian Standard (Part 3/Sec 101) which is identical with IEC 60297-3-101 : 2004 ‘Mechanical structures for electronic equipment - Dimensions of mechanical structures of the 482,6 mm (19 in) series - Part 3-101: Subracks and associated plug-in units’ issued by the International Electro technical Commission (IEC) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on recommendation of the Electromechanical Components and Mechanical Structures For Electronic Equipment’s Sectional Committee, and approval of the Electronics and Information Technology Division Council.
IS 11719 (Part 2) was first published in 1986 in two sections IS 11719 (Part2 / Sec 1) : 1986 and IS 11719 (Part 2 / Sec 2) : 1986 and was based on IEC 60297-3 : 1984. The Base IEC standard IEC 60297-3 : 1984 has been withdrawn and replaced by IEC 60297-3-101 : 2004. IS 11719 (Part 2/ Sec 1) : 1986 and IS 11719 (Part 2 / Sec 2) : 1986 has now been superseded by IS/IEC 60297-3-101 : 2004 in order to align it with the latest Publication of IEC 60297-3-101 : 2004.
The text of IEC Standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain terminologies and conventions are, however, not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following:
a) Wherever the words ‘International Standard’ appear referring to this standard, they should be read as ‘Indian Standard”.
b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker. while in Indian Standards, the current practice is to use a point (.) as decimal marker.
