NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard (Part 5) which is identical with IEC 60318-5 : 2006 ‘Electroacoustics - Simulators of human head and ear - Part 5: 2 cm3 coupler for the measurement of hearing aids and earphones coupled to the ear by means of ear inserts’ issued by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of the Audio, Video and Multimedia Systems and Equipment Sectional Committee and approval of the Electronics and Information Technology Division Council.

This standard was first published in 1984 and was identical to IEC 60126 : 1973. The IEC 60126 has now been technically revised and replaced by IEC 60318-5. Hence IS 10781 : 1984 is being superseded by IS/IEC 60318-5 : 2006.

The text of IEC Standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain terminology and conventions are however not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following:

a) Wherever the words ‘International Standard’ appear referring to this standard, they should be read as ‘Indian Standard’.

b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker while in Indian Standards, the current practice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker.
