NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard which is identical with IEC 60336 : 2005 ‘Medical electrical equipment - X-ray tube assemblies for medical diagnosis - Characteristics of focal spots’ issued by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of the Ionizing Radiation Imaging and Radiotherapy Equipment Sectional Committee and approval of the Medical Equipment and Hospital Planning Division Council.

This standard was first published in 1986 as IS 12024 based on IEC 60336 : 1993. IEC 60336 has been revised in 2005. This standard will supersede IS 12024 : 1986 ‘Methods for determination of characteristics of focal spots diagnostic X-ray tube assemblies for medical use’, and after the publication of this standard,IS 12024 : 1986 shall be treated as withdrawn.

The text of IEC Standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain conventions are, however, not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following:

a) Wherever the words ‘International Standard’ appear referring to this standard, they should be read as ‘Indian Standard’.

b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker while in Indian Standards, the current practice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker.
