NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard (Part 3) which is identical with IEC 60401-3 : 2015 ‘Terms and nomenclature for cores made of magnetically soft ferrites - Part 3: Guidelines on the format of data appearing in manufacturers catalogues of transformer and inductor cores’ issued by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendations of the Magnetic Components, Ferrite Materials, Piezoelectric and Frequency Control Devices Sectional Committee and approval of theElectronics and Information Technology Division Council.

IS 9654 was published in 1993 and was based on IEC document 51 (CO.) 282 'Guide on the format of data on ferrite materials appearing in manufacturer's catalogues of transformer and inductor cores'. The IEC was later published as IEC 60401-3. The superseding of above mentioned Indian Standard has been undertaken to align it with the latest version of IEC 60401-3 : 2015 and on publication of this standard, IS 9654 : 1993 will be withdrawn.
