NATIONAL FOREWORD
This Indian Standard which is identical with IEC 60469 : 2013, ‘Transitions, pulses and related waveforms - Terms, definitions and algorithms’ issued by International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on recommendation of the Electronic Measuring Instruments, Instrumentation Systems and Accessories Sectional Committee and approval of the Electronics and Information Technology Division Council. This Indian Standard combines the content of IS 14501 (Part 1) : 1998 ‘Pulse techniques and apparatus: Part 1 Pulse terms and definitions’ and IS 14501 (Part 2) : 1998 ‘Pulse techniques and apparatus: Part 2 Pulse measurement and analysis, general considerations’ which were based on
IEC 60469-1 : 1987 and IEC 60469-2 : 1987 respectively. Since these IEC standards have been withdrawn and replaced by IEC 60469 : 2013, this Indian standard has been published to align it with the latest IEC standard. This standard cancels and replaces both IS 14501 (Part 1) : 1998 and
IS 14501 (Part 2) : 1998.The text of IEC Standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain terminologies and conventions are, however, not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following:
a) Wherever the words ‘International Standard’ appear referring to this standard, they should be read as ‘Indian Standard’.
b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker, while in Indian Standards, the current practice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker.
