NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard (First Revision) which is identical with IEC 60715 : 2017 ‘Dimensions of lowvoltage switchgear and controlgear — Standardized mounting on rails for mechanical support of switchgear, controlgear and accessories’ issued by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on recommendation of the Low-Voltage Switchgear and Controlgear Sectional Committee and approval of the Electrotechnical Division Council.

This standard was originally published in 2007 and was identical with IEC 60715 : 1981 ‘Dimensions of low-voltage switchgear and controlgear — Standardized mounting on rails for mechanical support of switchgear, controlgear and accessories’. The first revision of this standard has been undertaken to align it with the latest version of IEC 60715 : 2017.

The major changes in this revision are as follows:

a) The electrical function of the rail for protective earthing is covered by the relevant product standard; and

b) the document has been editorially updated and drawings have been updated to bring them in compliance with Indian tolerancing and drawing standards.
