NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard (Part 1) which is identical with IEC 60740-1 : 2005 ‘Laminations for transformers and inductors - Part 1: Mechanical and electrical characteristics’ issued by International Electro technical Commission (IEC) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on recommendation of the Magnetic Components, Ferrite Materials, Piezoelectric and Frequency Control Devices Sectional Committee, and approval of the Electronics and Information Technology Division Council.

IS 11794 series were based on IEC Pub 740 (1982) ‘Laminations for transformers and inductors for use in telecommunication and electronic equipment’. The IEC was later published as IEC 60741-1 : 2005. The superseding of above mentioned Indian Standards has been undertaken to align it with the latest version of IEC 60741-1 : 2005 and on publication of this standard IS 11794 series stands withdrawn.
