New Standard from Last Update.

NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard which is identical with IEC 60915 : 2006 ‘Capacitors and resistors for use in electronic equipment Preferred dimensions of shaft ends bushes and for the mounting of single-hole bush-mounted shaft-operated electronic components’ issued by the International Electro technical Commission (IEC) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on recommendation of the Electromechanical Components and Mechanical Structures for Electronic Equipment’s Sectional Committee and approval of the Electronics and Information Technology Division Council. IS 4586 was first published in two parts [ IS 4586 (Part 1) : 1987, IS 4586 (Part-2) : 1980 ] and was identical to IEC 60390 : 1972 and IEC 60620 : 1978 respectively. These IEC standards have been withdrawn and replaced by IEC 60915 : 2006. IS 4586 has now been revised to align it with the latest Publication of IEC 60915 : 2006.

The text of IEC Standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain conventions and terminologies are, however, not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following:

a) Wherever the words ‘International Standard’ appears referring to this standard, they should be read as ‘Indian Standard’.

b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker, while in Indian Standards, the current practice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker.
