NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard (Part 4/Sec 3) (Third Revision) which is identical with IEC 60947-4-3 : 2020 ‘Low-voltage switchgear and controlgear - Part 4-3: Contactors and motor-starters - Semiconductor controllers and semiconductor contactors for non-motor loads’ issued by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of the Low Voltage Switchgear and Controlgear Sectional Committee and approval of the Electrotechnical Division Council.

This standard was originally published in 2008 and subsequently revised in 2016. First revision was based on IEC 60947-4-3 : 2011 ‘Low voltage switchgear and controlgear - Part 4-3: Contactors and motor-starters - AC semiconductor controllers and contactors for non-motor loads’. The second revision of this standard was undertaken to align it with the latest version of IEC 60947-4-3 : 2014. This third revision has now been undertaken to align this standard with the latest international practices.
