NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard (Part 3) which is identical with IEC 60958-3 : 2006 ‘Digital audio interface - Part 3: Consumer applications’ issued by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of the Audio, Video and Multimedia Systems and Equipment Sectional Committee and approval of the Electronics and Information Technology Division Council.

This standard was first published in 2007 and was identical to IEC 60958-3 : 2003. This revision is being published to align it with the latest version of IEC 60958-3 : 2006. Amendment 1 (2009) issued in the year 2009 to the above International Standard has been incorporated in this standard.

This standard is one of the parts of a series of standards on ‘Digital audio interface’. The other parts in this series are:

The text of IEC Standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain terminology and conventions are not however identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following:

a) Wherever the words ‘International Standard’ appears referring to this standard, they should be read as ‘Indian Standard’.

b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker while in Indian Standards, the current practice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker.
