NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard (Part 4/Sec1) which is identical with IEC 60958-4-1 : 2016 ‘Digital audio interface - Part 4-1: Professional applications - Audio content’ issued by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on recommendation of the Audio, Video and Multimedia Sectional Committee and approval of the Electronics and Information Technology Division Council.

IS/IEC 60958-4: 2003 was originally published in 2007. IEC now has withdrawn IEC 60958-4 and it is now replaced by IEC 60958-4-1, IEC 60958-4-2 and IEC 60958-4. This Standard will supersede IS/IEC 60958-4: 2003 and will now align with the latest version of IEC 60958-4-1: 2016.

The text of IEC Standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain terminologies and conventions are, however, not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following:

a) Wherever the words ‘International Standard’ appear referring to this standard, they should be read as ‘Indian Standard’.

b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker, while in Indian Standards, the current practice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker.
