NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard (Part 1) which is identical with IEC 61020-1 : 2019 ‘Electromechanical switches for use in electrical and electronic equipment - Part 1: Generic specification’ issued by the International Electro technical Commission (IEC) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on recommendationof the Electromechanical Components and Mechanical Structures for Electronic Equipment’s Sectional Committee and approval of the Electronics and Information Technology Division Council.

IS QC 960000 ‘Electromechanical switches for use in electronic equipment - Part 1: Generic specification’ was originally published in 1995 and was identical with IEC QC 960000 : 1991 issued by the International Electrotechnical Commission. This IEC QC 960000 : 1991 has been withdrawn and replaced by IEC 61020-1 : 2019.

The superseding of IS QC 960000 has been undertaken to align it with the latest version of IEC 61020-1 : 2019. On publication of this Indian Standard (Part 1), ISQC 960000:1995 ‘Electromechanical switches for use in electronic equipment - Part 1: generic specification’ stands withdrawn.

The text of IEC Standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain terminologies and conventions are, however, not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following:

a) Wherever the words ‘International Standard’ appear referring to this standard, they should be read as ‘Indian Standard’.

b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker, while in Indian Standards, the current practice is to use a point (.) as decimal marker.
