NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard which is identical to IEC 61123 : 2019 'Reliability testing - Compliance test plans for success ratio' issued by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of the Dependability of Electronic, Electrical Components, Equipment and Systems Sectional Committee and approval of the Electronics and Information Technology Division Council.

IS 8161 (Part 5) was originally published in 1981 and was based on IEC Document 56 (Central Office) 74 'Draft-Equipment reliability testing: Part 5 Compliance test plans for success ratio', which was later published as IEC 60605-5 : 1982. IEC has withdrawn the standard and replaced it with IEC 61123 : 1991. Hence the first revision was published in 2011 and was identical to IEC 61123 : 1991. This revision has been undertaken to align it with the latest version IEC 61123 : 2019. On publication of this standard IS 8161 (Part 5): 2011 stand withdrawn.

The text of the IEC standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain terminologies and conventions are, however, not identical to those used in the Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following:

 a) Wherever the words 'International Standard' appear referring to this standard, they should be read as 'Indian Standard'; and

 b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker, while in Indian Standards, the current practice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker.
