NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard (Part 100) (First Revision) which is identical with IEC 62271-100 : 2021 ‘Highvoltage switchgear and controlgear - Part 100 Alternating-current circuit-breakers’ issued by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of the High Voltage Switchgear and Controlgear Sectional Committee and approval of the Electrotechnical Division Council.

Requirements and tests for High Voltage a.c. circuit breakers were covered under IS 2516 series published originally in 1980. All parts and sections of IS 2516 were then superseded by IS 13118 : 1991 ‘General requirements for circuit breakers for voltages above 1 000 V’.
