NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard (Part 101) (First Revision) which is identical with IEC 62771-101 : 2021 ‘High- Voltage switchgear and controlgear Part 101: Synthetic testing’ issued by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of the High Voltage Switchgear and Controlgear Sectional Committee and approval of the Electrotechnical Division Council.

‘Method of synthetic testing of high voltage alternating current circuit breakers’ was earlier covered under IS 13516 : 1993. IS 13516 was then superseded by IS/IEC 62271-101 : 2012 which was published in the year 2018. This revision has been undertaken to align this standard with the latest international practices.
