NATIONAL FOREWORD
This Indian Standard (Part 5) (Second Revision) which is Identical to IS/IEC 62351-5 : 2023 'Power systems management and associated information exchange - Data and communications security - Part 5: Security for IEC 60870-5 and derivatives' issued by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendations of the Power System Control And Associated Communication Sectional Committee and approval of the Electronics and Information Technology Division Council.
This Indian Standard was originally published in 2013 and was identical to IEC/TS 62351-5 : 2009. The first revision of this standard published in 2019 and was identical to IEC/TS 62351-58 : 2013. The second revision of this standard align this Indian Standard with latest version of IEC 62351-5 : 2023 published in 2023.
The text of IEC standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain conventions are however not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following:
a) Wherever the words 'International Standard' appears referring to this standard, they should be read as 'Indian Standard'; and
b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker while in Indian Standards, the current practice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker.
