IS/IEC 62508 : 2010 Guidance on Human Aspects of Dependability
(Superseding IS 11743 : 1986)
NATIONAL FOREWORD
This Indian Standard which is identical to IEC 62508 : 2010 'Guidance on human aspects of dependability' issued by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of the Dependability of Electronic, Electrical Components, Equipment and Systems Sectional Committee and approval of the Electronics and Information Technology Division Council.
IS 11743 was originally published in 1986. The Standard was formulated based on indigenous efforts. It was decided to supersede it with IEC 62508, since it provides guidelines on human aspects of dependability of systems. It fills the need for a standard to address the dependability of human/machine systems. On publication of this standard, 11743 : 1986 will stand withdrawn.
The text of the IEC standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain terminologies and conventions are, however, not identical to those used in the Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following:
a) Wherever the words 'International Standard' appear referring to this standard, they should be read as 'Indian Standard'; and
b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker, while in Indian Standards, the current practice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker.
